Sansevieria trifasciata 'Starlight', also called Snake Plant Starlight, is a cultivar of the widely grown snake plant native to West Africa, where it grows in dry, rocky habitats with sparse rainfall. It belongs to the Asparagaceae family and has been cultivated as a low light air purifying indoor plant across the world for decades.
The leaves grow upright in a tight rosette form, sword-shaped and stiff, reaching around 24 to 36 inches tall. 'Starlight' is distinguished by pale silvery-green to creamy white leaf faces, edged and streaked with darker green banding. The contrast between the lighter center and the darker margins runs the full length of each leaf.
Mature specimens can occasionally produce a slender flower spike with small, tubular, white to pale greenish blooms that carry a light fragrance, though flowering indoors is infrequent. 'Starlight' is better known for its air purifying qualities - it filters formaldehyde and other indoor toxins, and releases oxygen at night rather than during the day.
