Spear & Jackson 35" Traditional Stainless Planting Spade

Every gardener needs a variety of spades for digging, planting, transplanting, and turning soil. The compact, traditionally styled Spear & Jackson Traditional 35" Stainless Planting Spade is a durable, beautifully crafted, heirloom-quality tool that belongs in every garden shed. It has a 7" wide x 9¼" blade on an almost 36" long implement, making it a terrific choice for creating holes for new plants, extracting existing perennials, and turning compost and other amendments into garden beds. The blade is shiny, stainless steel that resists soil adhesion and rust and has treads to invite foot action. It is double-riveted to the hardwood handle to accommodate the extra tension needed when pushing or pulling to loosen earth or dig holes. The pointed blade helps break through soil and the serrated portion is helpful for slicing roots. The shovel is engraved with graduated measurements up to 6" to help guide gardeners to proper planting depths. (The numbers are nicely oversized for easy reading.) The premium Ash handle has a darkened wood finish with deeper highlights that accentuate the grain (and are great for hiding marks left by dirty hands). It is topped by a closed wishbone shape to facilitate a sturdy grip.
