Strawberry Shortcake Fig

Strawberry Shortcake is a fig that originally comes from California. The mother tree was discovered by Sacred Origin. Cuttings of this variety are rare because the mother tree grows in the midst of a dense olive orchard that is hard to get to. It is confirmed common, and growers love it because of its good resistance to splitting and early ripening. This would be a good candidate for growers in cooler and rainy climates. The eye on Strawberry Shortcake is tightly closed and the thicker skin also helps to fortify these tasty fruits from invasion of pests or mold.

The pulp has a distinct strawberry and mixed berry flavor. There’s also some acidity there to balance out the sweetness, just like with an actual strawberry. Both the figs themselves and the leaves of the trees are large and impressive. The foliage makes a pretty addition to any garden or fig orchard.

When do we ship cuttings?

Non-Rooted Cuttings(November/December):

We begin to ship cuttings once the trees are dormant and in a shippable state. Exact timing is weather dependent, but we usually start in November. Shipping continues throughout the winter and early spring. We stop shipping when the trees begin to break dormancy, normally around mid-March.

**All non-rooted cuttings ship between November and March regardless of the date selected during checkout. Orders placed during our pre-sale period(October/November) will ship out first in November/December. If you are rooting your cuttings in the spring, our cuttings can be kept in the refrigerator until you are ready to root them. They will be perfectly fine. That is what we do and they've turned into our most impressive trees.

Rooted Cuttings(Spring):

We begin shipping rooted cuttings once they are mature enough to ship. The shipping period typically begins late April and continues into June. Regardless of the date you select during checkout, we will ship when ready during that span. Please do not ask for ETA's or specific arrival dates. You will receive an email when your order ships with UPS Ground tracking details.
