This superb collection of antique confit pots with blue glaze date from the late-nineteenth to the early-twentieth century from Chanteduc, the home of Patricia and Walter Wells in Provence. Likely from the small coastal village of Agde or its neighbour, Sète, these confit pots were originally used for storing preserves. Two have modern brushed brass lids which Walter (ever the handy craftsman!) sourced from a lamp supply shop - they fit perfectly.
Patricia remembers purchasing these pots in Paris when she was envisioning a blue-theme for their home in Provence, and Walter immediately turned the two larger pots into lamps. Today, it would make a lovely flower vase or utensil crock to add a touch of the French coast to your kitchen.
Note one of the larger blue handles is missing some glaze.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
