Tulsi, also known as Holy Basil or Sacred Basil, is a traditional herb with a potently delicious, earthy-floral fragrance. Tulsi has been commonly dried for teas and used in tinctures. Pollinators love basil flowers! This variety called "Temperate Tulsi" is (ironically) among the most frost-hardy, short-season adapted basils. Original seeds received from Strictly Medicinals.
Planting Instructions: Start Temperate Tulsi Basil seed in flats 6-8 weeks before last frost and transplant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed; or direct seed outdoors after all danger of frost has passed. Sow 1/4" deep and keep seeds moist. Basil loves warmth and dies with frosts, so make sure to harvest all your remaining basil (or cover well) when the first fall frost arrives. To prolong your basil harvest, pinch off flowering tops.
Seed Saving Instructions: Allow select plants to bolt and go to seed. Collect Temperate Tulsi Basil seeds when dry and they easily crumble into your hand (or a bucket). Store in a cool, dark and dry place.
