A twisted piece of driftwood rises from a round wooden base in the corner of your living room, turning and spiraling upward like a frozen flame. At the top, a wide polished dome cap glows warm amber. Underneath, hundreds of hand-carved gill lines project thin golden rays in a full sunburst pattern, casting a fan of light across the hardwood floor, the wall behind, and the sofa beside it. The twisted grey stem catches the warm light on its ridges and grooves, lighting up on one side and falling into shadow on the other.
Twisted Driftwood Stem
The stem is a single piece of naturally twisted driftwood, selected for its spiraling form. The wood twists along its length in flowing corkscrew patterns created by years of wind stress, drought, and weathering. The surface is stripped bare of bark, revealing pale grey-silver heartwood with deep grooves, ridged spirals, and dark knot eyes where branches once grew. The twisted grain catches light in different ways as you move around the lamp, with highlights on the raised ridges and shadows in the deep grooves. Each stem is a unique natural form that cannot be carved or manufactured.
Wide Dome Cap with Gill Sunburst
The cap is a large, deep dome carved from solid wood, polished to a warm golden satin. The dome shape is taller and rounder than a flat parasol, creating a half-sphere that concentrates and projects the gill glow downward. The wood grain flows across the dome in rich amber and honey tones with dark heartwood swirls and natural knots visible on the polished surface. Underneath, hundreds of tight gill lines are carved by hand, radiating from the center outward to the rim in a dense, even sunburst. The built-in LED strip shines outward through each carved channel, projecting individual rays of warm 2700K light in a full 360-degree fan pattern. The rays are visible on the floor, the wall, and any surface within several feet of the lamp. Dimmable from full sunburst brightness to a soft warm background glow.
Round Reclaimed Wood Base
The base is a thick round disc of reclaimed wood with a dark, weathered surface that echoes the grey tones of the driftwood stem above. It is heavy enough to anchor the twisted stem and wide cap at the top. The flat bottom sits flush on the floor with a felt pad underneath.
