The jewel-toned, magenta spikes of Veronica longifolia Vernique® ‘Raspberry’ make stunning additions to borders, container plantings, and fresh-cut flower bouquets. Butterflies and bees adore the blooms, which ornament compact, mildew-resistant plants continually from late spring through summer. Deadheading is recommended to encourage even more flowers. This variety of Speedwell tolerates some shade, but it does not like dry soils.
Veronica is a Eurasian genus of 250 species. It's a diverse group that includes prostrate mat-formers for the rock garden as well as long-legged beauties with tall spikes of bloom. Veronicas offer some of the truest and richest blues to be found in the plant world.
