These plants are well suited to South African conditions and are valued for their colourful flowers, striking foliage and their ability to attract birds, bees and pollinators to the garden. Once established, many of these species require very little water, making them an excellent choice for waterwise and sustainable gardens.

The kit comes packaged in a handy eggbox and includes everything you need to get started. Each kit contains seeds from six species as well as Cape Seed Smoke Primer, which helps trigger germination by mimicking the natural conditions that stimulate seed growth.

PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS
Please note the detailed instructions included in the packaging; below is just a guide.

1. Fill the eggbox cups with the supplied soil mix or a well-draining sandy potting mix.
2. Plant both seeds of each species in the cups at a depth roughly equal to the seed size.
3. Water gently and keep the soil moist, but never waterlogged.
4. Place seedlings in semi-shade with good airflow and protect from birds and pests.
5. Germination may take 1 to 3 months depending on the species.
6. Once seedlings reach about 4–5 cm tall, plant them into the garden or a larger pot with well-draining soil.
