White Drainage Gravel for Terrarium - 5 kg

This white gravel forms the drainage layer at the bottom of your terrarium. It catches excess water so your plants do not get wet roots. The bright colour shows clearly through the glass and gives your terrarium a clean base.

Why use drainage gravel

A drainage layer keeps water away from the roots. When you water your terrarium or when condensation drips down, the water collects in the gravel instead of sitting around the soil. This prevents root rot and keeps your plants healthy inside a closed jar.

The white colour stands out nicely against the dark soil and green moss layers above it. You see the layers through the glass, which adds visual depth to your terrarium.

How to use it

Pour a layer of 2 to 4 cm of white gravel at the bottom of your glass jar before you add soil. The exact thickness depends on the height of your container. Taller jars can take a thicker drainage layer. Spread the gravel evenly so water can flow across the entire base.

After the gravel, add a thin layer of activated charcoal to keep the water fresh, then your potting soil on top. The white gravel stays visible as the bottom stripe in your finished terrarium.
