A stripped wooden log rises from a smooth round base in the corner beside your armchair, its surface pale and rough with the memory of bark still visible in the grain. At the top, a wide parasol cap spreads outward like an umbrella opened against the rain, its polished golden surface catching the last blue light from the window. Underneath, hundreds of tightly packed gill lines fan warm amber light across the plaster wall, the Persian rug, and the open book on the side table. The gill lines are so dense and so even that the light on the wall looks like the shadow of a real mushroom cap cast by the setting sun.
Wide Shallow Parasol Cap
The cap is the widest and shallowest in the collection. It extends well beyond the stem on all sides in a broad, flat parasol shape, curving gently from a low peak at the center down to a thin rim at the edge. The top surface is polished smooth in warm golden tones with flowing cathedral grain, subtle color shifts, and small natural knots. The wide spread of the cap means the gill glow reaches further across the room than any dome-shaped cap, lighting walls and ceilings several feet away.
Underneath, the gill carving is the densest in the entire mushroom lamp collection. The lines are carved tight together with minimal spacing between them, creating a fine, even sunburst pattern that projects hundreds of individual golden rays. The built-in LED strip sits at the cap-stem junction and shines outward through every carved channel, warm white. The density of the gills softens and multiplies the light, creating a warm, even wash rather than a few bold stripes. Dimmable from full room-filling ambient light to a soft golden background glow.
Stripped Log Stem
The stem is a solid wood log with the bark removed by hand. The surface beneath the bark retains the texture of the living tree: long vertical grain lines, knot holes where branches once grew, shallow ridges where the bark fibers attached, and subtle curves where the trunk grew unevenly. The wood is pale golden to warm honey in tone, depending on the piece. The surface is sealed with natural oil but not sanded smooth, preserving the tactile, organic quality of stripped wood. Running your hand along the stem, you feel the ridges and hollows of the original tree. The stem stands straight with a very slight natural lean that gives it a living posture.
Round Disc Base
The base is a smooth, turned round disc in the same warm wood tone as the cap. The surface is sanded and polished, contrasting with the rough stripped texture of the stem above. The disc is heavy and wide enough to stabilize the tall stem and wide parasol cap. A felt pad protects the floor. A braided cloth cord exits from the back of the base and lies flat along the floor.
