A sculpted wooden branch curves upward from a round disc base, splitting into a Y at the top. From the fork, two lengths of natural hemp rope drop downward, holding a wide mushroom cap that hangs face-down like a pendant light. Sculpted Y-Branch Stem
The stem is carved from a single piece of solid wood, following a natural curve from the base upward that ends in a Y-fork at the top. The two branches of the Y extend outward and slightly forward, creating a cradle from which the cap hangs. The stem is finished in a warm golden honey tone with natural knots, smooth grain lines, and subtle bark memory along its surface. The curve is organic, leaning slightly forward to position the hanging cap over the seating area beside it. All surfaces are sanded smooth with no sharp edges or rough spots. The Y-fork is the natural shape of the wood, not cut or joined.
Suspended Pendant Cap with Gill Glow
The cap hangs face-down from two hemp ropes attached to the Y-branch tips with small hand-forged brass fittings. The cap is a wide, shallow dome with a smooth polished top and hand-carved gill lines radiating underneath from center to rim. A built-in LED shines through the carved channels, casting warm 2700K light in a focused downward cone onto the reading area below.
The pendant suspension gives the cap a gentle, natural sway. It is not rigid or fixed. The cap hangs level and stable under its own weight, but responds to air movement or a gentle touch with a slow, calming pendulum motion. The hemp ropes run up to the brass fittings on the Y-branch tips, and the electrical cord is routed along one rope, down the stem, and out through the base.
Hemp Rope and Brass Fittings
The two suspension ropes are natural hemp, twisted, with a warm tan color that matches the wood tone. The brass fittings at the Y-branch tips and at the cap attachment points are small, hand-forged, and finished in an antique patina. The combination of warm wood, natural rope, and aged brass creates a material palette that feels handmade and honest.
Round Disc Base
The base is a thick, turned round disc in the same warm wood as the stem. It is wide and heavy enough to anchor the lamp against the forward lean of the stem and the weight of the hanging cap. A felt pad protects the floor. The braided cloth cord exits from the back of the base.
