Guava Tree 'Ka Hua Kula' (Psidium guajava)

Known as the golden fruit, this Psidium was hybridized at the University of Hawaii, Honolulu and known for its high yields of larger fruit than other guavas and for its excellent ability to puree. This fruit is oblong and has a more intense pink than other varieties. Guavas get little attention for their superpowers, but they have high anti-oxidant properties and have twice the amount of potassium than a typical banana. Grow in full sun and dry out between waterings. Grow in a pot to keep a manageable size. If planted in the ground, prune regularly to keep small for fruit picking, if left unattended this guava tree can easily grow to thirty feet.
