An unusual pedestal from the late nineteenth century. Beautifully molded brass covers a timber structure. The space behind the moldings is resin filled to prevent dents. The sides are decorated with nymphs, likely Bacchantes carrying water or wine and wearing togas. There are grape motifs to the base. This column has an inner timber structure and is decorated with brass molding on all sides. The cavity underneath the Brass molding has been filled with resin to ensure the brass retains its shape and is not easily dented.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
