A pair of bollards from the late eighteenth / early nineteenth century. They were originally installed either side of gates to protect stone walls and the coping stone of buildings. The part below the ridge was buried so that they could withstand the impact of wagon wheels and tires.
Condition and wear consistent with age and use.
