Phlox 'Bedazzled Lavender'

Enjoy sparkling early spring color with sun-loving Phlox ‘Bedazzled Lavender,’ a low-growing, fragrant favorite that produces deeply notched, lavender flowers with dark purple eyes. The lavender ages to paler tones, creating dynamic tonal variations. 'Bedazzled Lavender' is a hybrid of the mat-forming North American native Phlox bifida (commonly called Sand Phlox) and shares its parent’s vigorous constitution, resistance to mildew, and tolerance of rocky soils while blooming earlier than many varieties of Creeping Phlox. The foliage may retain some of its color in winter. Plants need a season or two to settle in but gradually will spread to form a stream of vivid color in rock gardens, along foundations, and at the edges of borders with well-drained soil. The varied, versatile, and indispensable Phlox genus includes almost 70 species of perennials and annuals. The majority of these low-maintenance plants are native to North America where they can be found in a range of habitats from woodlands and meadows to rocky alpine areas. All have tubular flowers that attract hummingbirds, hummingbird moths (also called hawk moths), bees, and butterflies. Most have a spicy vanilla-clove perfume that delights us as well.
